The Line: Boston Red Sox -245 / Atlanta Braves +225 --- Over/Under: 8
Out at Fenway Park on Sunday, the Atlanta Braves and the Boston Red Sox will be finishing up their MLB series.
In the Friday opener, the Red Sox secured a 6-2 win. On Saturday, the Sox stormed back late in the game for an 8-6 win.
For the Sunday game, the Braves will be bringing out RHP Mike Foltynewicz in the start. Over his 53.0 innings and 3-3 record this year, Foltynewicz has a 2.72 ERA with 62 Ks and 26 BBs.
Heading into the weekend, Nick Markakis led the way for the Braves on 67 hits, 31 runs and 34 RBI. On Saturday, Markakis had two hits, a run and an RBI.
Over on the Sox’ side, they’re going with Chris Sale on Sunday. Across 70.2 innings and a 5-1 record this year, Sale has a 2.17 ERA with 96 Ks and 17 BBs.
Boston’s top hitter coming out of the work week was Mookie Betts, with 65 hits, 50 runs and 37 RBI with 17 homers. On Saturday, Betts had a hit and two runs.
The Braves are 12-2 in their last 14 during game three of a series and 5-1 in their last six Sunday games. Atlanta is also 2-8 in Foltynewicz’s last 10 road starts and 3-14 in his last 17 starts.
Meanwhile, the Sox are 4-0 in their last four Sunday games and 41-19 in their last 60 in game three of a series. Boston is also 5-1 in Sale’s last six Sunday starts and 7-3 in his last 10 starts overall.
Over the last three starts, Foltynewicz has been pretty darn good, with just one earned on 12 hits in a combined 16.0 innings. Sale has been solid as well of course, with one earned in 7.2 innings during his last start. This is probably one to stay away from, but I’m leaning toward Sale and the Sox here. The under seems to make sense as well.
