The Line: Boston Red Sox -175 / Baltimore Orioles +165 --- Over/Under: 9
The Baltimore Orioles and Boston Red Sox meet Thursday in MLB action at Fenway Park.
The Baltimore Orioles look for a victory here after winning five of their last seven games. The Orioles have scored 21 runs in their last three games and five or more runs in six of their last eight games. The Baltimore Orioles have won five straight games when scoring more than three runs. Manny Machado leads the Orioles with 55 hits and 38 RBI while Adam Jones and Trey Mancini have combined for 86 hits and 37 RBI. Kevin Gausman gets the ball, and he is 3-2 with a 3.18 ERA and 42 strikeouts this season. Gausman is 4-6 with a 3.83 ERA and 74 strikeouts in his career against the Red Sox.
The Boston Red Sox look for a spark of consistency here after splitting their last 10 games. The Red Sox have scored 14 runs in their last three games and five or more runs in six of their last eight games. The Boston Red Sox have won seven of their last nine games when scoring more than three runs. J.D. Martinez leads the Red Sox with 55 hits and 36 RBI while Mookie Betts and Andrew Benintendi have combined for 96 hits and 50 RBI. David Price gets the ball, and he is 3-4 with a 4.89 ERA and 38 strikeouts this season. Price is 12-5 with a 2.81 ERA and 164 strikeouts in his career against the Orioles.
The Orioles are 11-23 in their last 34 vs. American League East, 1-4 in their last 5 during game 1 of a series and 1-4 in Gausmans last 5 road starts. The Red Sox are 5-1 in their last 6 Thursday games, 1-4 in their last 5 games on grass and 1-4 in Prices last 5 starts on grass. The Orioles are 1-4 in Gausmans last 5 starts vs. Red Sox, 0-6 in the last 6 meetings and the Red Sox are 4-0 in Prices last 4 starts vs. Orioles.
Gausman has been really solid this season, allowing three or less runs in each of his last seven starts. The problem is that hasn't resulted in many victories this season due to the Orioles being a bad baseball team. Price has been rocked at home this season and has been very shaky all season overall. However, the Red Sox are on fire offensively and usually rake at their home park. I just don't have much confidence in the O's, and the Red Sox have won six straight against Baltimore. I'll eat the juice here, even with Price's struggles this season.
