The Line: Boston Red Sox -200 / Baltimore Orioles +185 --- Over/Under: 9.5
Out at historic Fenway Park on Sunday, the Baltimore Orioles and the Boston Red Sox will be finishing up their weekend series.
Boston won game one of this set, then the Orioles took a 7-4 win Friday. On Saturday, the Sox managed a 6-3 victory.
For the Sunday game, the Orioles are going with RHP David Hess. Hess is 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA.
Manny Machado is the undisputed star on the Orioles roster, bringing 59 hits, 26 runs, 14 homers and 42 RBI into the weekend. On Saturday, Machado had one hit.
As for the Sox, they’re rolling out lefty Eduardo Rodriguez on Sunday. In his 42.1 innings and 3-1 record this year, Rodriguez has a 4.68 ERA with 51 Ks and 16 BBs.
Tops in hitting coming into the weekend for the Sox was Mookie Betts with 59 hits, 47 runs, 14 homers and 30 RBI. In the Saturday game, Betts had a two-run homer.
The Orioles are 5-1 in their last six during game four of a series and 1-6 in their last seven road games versus a left-handed starter. The over is 20-8-1 in the Orioles’ last 29 in game four of a series and Baltimore is 24-52 in their last 75 versus a team with a winning record.
Meanwhile, the Red Sox are 7-1 in their last eight Sunday games and 7-1 in Rodriguez’s last eight starts. Boston is also 5-1 in Rodriguez’s last six Sunday starts and 4-0 in his last four starts versus the AL East.
Rodriguez has been a little choppy this year, but he’s been okay over his last couple of starts. He allowed just one hit in five innings versus the Yankees then came back with three earned on six hits in 5.0 innings versus the A’s. If Rodriguez can go around six innings here without too much damage, I think the Sox can take it.
