Boston Red Sox -190 / Cleveland Indians +180 O/U: 9.5
The Cleveland Indians and the Boston Red Sox will meet up to continue their MLB series on Tuesday.
In the Monday opener of this set, the Red Sox emerged with a 12-5 victory after a six-run inning in the fifth.
For Tuesday’s game, the Indians will be sending out Zach Plesac in the start. The 24-year-old Plesac will be making his Major League debut here at the iconic Fenway Park.
Cleveland put up a respectable nine hits in the Monday loss, but couldn’t stop the Sox on the other side. Jason Kipnis, Mike Freeman and Oscar Mercado each logged two hits in that one.
Over on the Red Sox’ side, they’re going with David Price in the start on Tuesday. This year, Price is sitting on a 2-2 record alongside a 3.24 ERA and 47 strikeouts.
Boston banged out 13 hits in the Monday win, and scored in six of their eight bottom innings. JD Martinez emerged with a pair of solo homers in the Sox’ victory.
The Indians are 10-4 in their last 14 Tuesday games and the under is 24-9-4 in their last 37 in game two of a series. Cleveland is 10-5 in their last 15 versus the AL East and 1-7 in their last eight overall.
Meanwhile, the Red Sox are 40-19 in their last 59 Tuesday games and they’re 18-8 in their last 26 overall. Boston is 62-29 in their last 91 home games and 6-1 in their last seven versus the AL Central.
Though it’s a relatively small sample size, Plesac has put up some nice numbers at the minor-league level this season. Combined across six starts at Double-A and three at Triple-A in 2019, Plesac has logged a 1.41 ERA, a 0.78 WHIP and 56 strikeouts over 57.1 innings. Not too shabby.
Anyhow, Plesac probably won’t stay in super-long here and we’re sure to see a truckload of bullpen guys on both sides unless Price spins a gem (which he’s totally capable of). I’m leaning toward Boston here, so long as they don’t get caught up trying to hold innings back as that big Yankees series looms Thursday.
