|Date & Time||Thursday August 23, 2018, 1:05 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Boston Red Sox -167 / Cleveland Indians +157 --- Over/Under: 9.5
The Cleveland Indians and the Boston Red Sox will be finishing up their MLB set from Fenway Park on Thursday.
Cleveland took the first two games of this set 5-4 and 6-3, then on Wednesday the Sox finally got it going with a 10-4 win.
For Thursday’s game, the Indians will be sending out RHP Adam Plutko. In his 48.2 innings and 4-3 mark this year, Plutko has a 4.62 ERA with 35 Ks and 12 BBs.
Francisco Lindor leads the Indians in hitting this year, and he came into Wednesday on 146 hits, 103 runs, 29 homers and 76 RBI. In game three, Lindor had a hit and two runs.
Over on the Sox’ side, they’re going with lefty David Price on Thursday. Across 141.1 innings and a 13-6 mark this year, Price has a 3.69 ERA with 142 Ks and 41 BBs.
Coming into game three, JD Martinez led the Sox on 152 hits, 94 runs, 38 homers and 106 RBI. On Wednesday, Martinez had two hits and a pair of RBI.
The Indians are 44-16 in their last 60 Thursday games and 7-2 in their last nine road games versus a left-handed starter. Cleveland is 39-17 in their last 56 in game four of a series and 2-5 in their last seven versus a lefty starter.
Meanwhile, the Sox are 9-0 in their last nine in game four of a series and 5-2 in their last seven Thursday games. Boston is 5-1 in Price’s last six Thursday starts and 5-1 in his last six starts with four days’ rest.
Plutko has pitched pretty well as a fill-in guy lately, and he hasn’t given up more than three earned in any of his last six appearances (three starts; three relief). Price, meanwhile, is sitting on six straight quality starts and is 4-0 since July 1. With the way Price is throwing right now I have to take the Red Sox.
