|Date & Time||Sunday September 9, 2018, 8:08 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Boston Red Sox -120 / Houston Astros +110 --- Over/Under: 8.5
The Houston Astros and the Boston Red Sox will finish off the MLB weekend with a nationally-televised game from Fenway Park on Sunday.
In the Friday opener, the Astros rallied for a 6-3 win. On Saturday, Houston kept it going with a 5-3 victory.
For the Sunday game, the Astros will be sending out LHP Dallas Keuchel. In his 179.2 innings and 11-10 mark this year, Keuchel has a 3.46 ERA with 136 Ks and 46 BBs.
Alex Bregman leads the Astros in hitting this season, coming into the weekend on 158 hits, 97 runs, 29 homers and 96 RBI. On Saturday, Bregman hit a solo homer.
As for the Sox, they’re going with Rick Porcello on Sunday. In his 173.2 innings and 16-7 mark this year, Porcello has a 4.20 ERA with 176 Ks and 43 BBs.
Heading into the weekend, Boston’s top hitter JD Martinez had 171 hits, 103 runs, 39 homers and 117 RBI. In game two, Martinez whiffed 0-for-5.
The Astros are 6-0 in their last six in game three of a series and 7-1 in Keuchel’s last eight road starts. Houston is 4-1 in Keuchel’s last five Sunday starts and 10-3 in his last 13 starts.
Meanwhile, the Sox are 42-14 in their last 56 in game three of a series and 17-7 in their last 24 Sunday games. Boston is 10-4 in Porcello’s last 14 starts and 8-3 in his last 11 starts in game three of a series.
Keuchel is sitting on three straight quality starts. In that time, he allowed five earned on 18 hits over the course of 19.0 innings. As for Porcello, he had a run of bad starts last month but put up one earned on two hits in 5.0 innings in Atlanta his last time up. This should be a great matchup, and I’m staying away from it but I’ll take Keuchel and the Astros in a coin-flip game.
