The Los Angeles Angels and the Boston Red Sox will meet up on the MLB circuit Sunday to finish off their series.
The Red Sox took the first two games of this set, 3-0 Thursday and 16-4 Friday. In the Saturday game, LA struck back with a big 12-4 win.
For Sunday’s matchup, the Angels will send out Patrick Sandoval in the start. Over his 5.0 innings without a decision this year, Sandoval has a 3.60 ERA with eight Ks and two walks.
LA put up seven runs in the seventh inning during the win on Saturday. Justin Upton ripped a homer and finished with four RBI in that one.
Over on the Red Sox’ side, they’re going with Andrew Cashner in the start on Sunday. Across 125.0 innings and a 10-7 mark thus far, Cashner has a 4.68 ERA with 86 Ks and 41 BBs.
Boston had nine hits in the Saturday loss but couldn’t get much going. Mookie Betts had a pair of knocks with one RBI.
The Angels are 1-4 in their last five in game four of a series and 2-5 in their last seven versus a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30. The over is 6-2 in LA’s last eight in game four of a series and 8-3 in their last 11 Sunday games.
Meanwhile, the Red Sox are 17-7 in their last 24 in game four of a series and 0-4 in their last four Sunday games. Boston is 1-4 in Cashner’s last five starts and 1-4 in his last five on grass.
Sandoval has just the one appearance to gauge things from but he did pretty well there, logging three hits and two earned with eight Ks in his 6.0 innings.
Cashner is a little more complex, and he’s struggled in his five starts for the Sox, with just one quality outing and five or more earned in three of five appearances. If Sandoval can come out strong here, this is a good spot for LA to snag a win.
