Boston Red Sox -101 / Los Angeles Dodgers -109 O/U: 9
The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Boston Red Sox will complete their MLB set on Sunday.
In the Friday opener of this series, the Red Sox powered out an 8-1 win. On Saturday, LA returned the favor with a 11-2 victory.
For Sunday’s game, the Dodgers will bring out Hyun-Jin Ryu in the start. Over 109.0 innings and a 10-2 mark so far, Ryu has a 1.73 ERA with 99 Ks and 10 BBs.
Los Angeles scored three runs in the fifth inning and four more in the seventh to put the Red Sox away on Saturday. As a team, the Dodgers accounted for 14 hits.
Over on the Red Sox’ side, they’re going with David Price on Sunday. In his 83.1 innings and 7-2 record, Price has a 3.24 ERA with 95 Ks and 21 BBs.
Boston couldn’t sustain much of anything in the Saturday loss. Xander Bogaerts was one of the few bright spots with his solo homer, two hits and two RBI.
The Dodgers are 14-3 in Ryu’s last 17 Sunday starts and 9-2 in his last 11 starts. Los Angeles is 3-7 in Ryu’s last 10 road starts and 1-4 in his last five versus the AL East.
Meanwhile, the Sox are 40-11 in their last 51 in game three of a series and 32-13 in their last 45 Sunday games. Boston is 7-0 in Price’s last seven Sunday starts and 21-6 in his last 27 home starts.
Ryu has been cruising along very well lately, with nine quality starts in his last 10 tries. The one outlier was in Colorado (naturally) with seven earned on nine hits in 4.0 innings and three homers.
As for Price, he’s been solid as well with six earned over his last four starts in 22.0 innings. This should be a really fun pitching battle and a lower-scoring game. I’m going with the hometown Sox eking one out since the trends favor them slightly, but you could make a case either way.
