|Date & Time||Saturday September 15, 2018, 4:05 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Boston Red Sox -250 / New York Mets +115 --- Over/Under: 9.5
The New York Mets and the Boston Red Sox will be continuing their MLB series on Saturday from Fenway Park.
In the Friday opener, the Mets scored three runs in the third and eighth innings for an 8-0 shutout win.
For Saturday’s game, the Mets will be sending out RHP Corey Oswalt. Across his 53.0 innings and 3-2 record this year, Oswalt has a 6.62 ERA with 34 Ks and 14 BBs.
Tops in hitting for the Mets this year is Amed Rosario, who entered this set on 125 hits, 68 runs and 46 RBI. On Friday, Rosario hit a solo homer and plated two runs.
Over on the Sox’ side, they’re going with Rick Porcello for the Saturday game. In his 179.1 innings and 16-7 mark this year, Porcello has a 4.27 ERA with 182 Ks and 44 BBs.
Coming into this set, JD Martinez led the Red Sox on 175 hits, 106 runs, 41 homers and 122 RBI. In the opener, Martinez logged a hit.
The Mets are 4-0 in the last four Saturday games and 5-2 in their last seven in game two of a series. The under is 6-1 in New York’s last seven Saturday games and the over is 4-1 in Oswalt’s last five starts overall.
Meanwhile, the Sox are 9-4 in Porcello’s last 13 home starts and 23-9 in his last 32 in game two of a series. Boston is 22-7 in their last 29 Saturday games and 5-1 in Porcello’s last six Saturday starts.
Over his last five starts, Porcello has allowed fewer than four earned runs only twice, and one of those was a three-earned effort. As for Oswalt, he’s showed signs of struggling lately, whether coming out of the pen or in the starting role. Even with the limp effort Friday I’m going to stick with the Red Sox here, and it could be a good spot for the over.
