Boston Red Sox -134 / New York Yankees +134 O/U: 11.5
YES, FS1, NESN
The New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox will match up on the MLB diamond once again on Saturday.
Boston drilled the Yankees and starter Masahiro Tanaka in the opener Thursday 19-3. In the Friday game two, Boston shelled New York again in a 10-5 win.
For Saturday’s game, the Yankees will bring out starter CC Sabathia. In his 86.0 innings and 5-5 record this year, Sabathia has a 4.50 ERA with 79 Ks and 30 BBs.
New York couldn’t score through the first five innings on Friday but finished with 13 hits on the evening. Mike Tauchman served up three hits with two runs in that one.
Over on the Red Sox’ side, they’re going with Eduardo Rodriguez in the start Saturday. Over 123.0 innings and a 12-4 mark so far, Rodriguez has a 4.10 ERA with 126 Ks and 41 BBs.
Mookie Betts was the hero for the Red Sox on Friday. Betts posted three homers on the evening and finished with four runs, four hits and five RBI.
The Yankees are 17-5 in their last 22 in game three of a series and 40-16 in their last 56 Saturday games. New York is 4-1 in Sabathia’s last five starts with four days’ rest and 5-2 in his last seven versus the AL East.
Meanwhile, the Sox are 62-20 in their last 82 in game three of a series and 39-12 in Rodriguez’s last 51 starts. Boston is 35-17 in Rodriguez’s last 52 home starts and 19-7 in his last 26 in game three of a series.
Sabathia had a run of four consecutive quality starts going, with nine earned in 25.0 innings, but he gave up six in 4.0 innings in Minnesota during a loss his last time out.
As for Rodriguez, he has three straight quality starts going, with three earned in 20.1 innings during that time.
Considering Sabathia probably won’t last too long here, and New York’s glaring pitching deficiencies over the last week or so, I have to go Boston here.
