The Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees face off on Saturday at Fenway Park for game two of their series.
The Boston Red Sox got off to a strong start on Friday and held on for the win in game one of the series. Dustin Pedroia had two hits and David Ortiz and Allen Craig each had hits as the Red Sox scored four runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Anthony Ranaudo allowed four hits and two runs while striking out two over 6.0 innings to get the win and Koji Uehara earned his 22nd save. For Saturday’s game the Red Sox start Allen Webster who won his first start this season. In his last start Webster allowed three hits and two runs while striking out four over 5.1 innings to get the win at Tampa Bay.
The New York Yankees are contending for the AL East title but they took a hit on Friday losing to the Red Sox. Carlos Beltran had two hits and Derek Jeter and Jacoby Ellsbury each had hits as the Yankees scored three runs on six hits. Starting pitcher Chris Capuano allowed eight hits and four runs while striking out five over 6.1 innings to take the loss and fall to 1-2 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Yankees start Shane Greene who had a no decision in his last start. For the season Greene has allowed 21 hits and nine earned runs while striking out 19 over 24.2 innings for a 2-1 record and a 3.28 ERA.
Boston is 3-5 at home against a team with a winning record, 2-8 against the AL East, and 4-1 in Webster’s last five starts. New York is 2-6 in their last eight road games, 1-5 in their last six games, and 2-10 against the AL East.
I look for a lot of scoring here and I like the Yankees to outslug Boston though this pick is really just a lean.
