MLB | Philadelphia Phillies (58-46) at Boston Red Sox (74-33)
Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Out at historic Fenway Park on Monday, the Philadelphia Phillies will be visiting the Boston Red Sox to kick off their MLB set in a nationally-televised game.

The Phillies are coming off a set against the Reds. Philadelphia won on Thursday but then dropped the next three games.

Philadelphia will be rolling with RHP Aaron Nola on Monday. Across his 134.0 innings and 12-3 record this year, Nola has a 2.42 ERA with 136 Ks and 37 BBs.

Tops in hitting for the Phillies is Odubel Herrera, who is sitting on 111 hits, 53 runs, 19 homers and 58 RBI. In the Sunday game, Herrera had two hits.

Over on the Red Sox’ side, they’re fresh off a weekend set against the Twins. Boston dropped the first game but then went on to win the next three.

David Price will be taking the mound for the Sox on Monday. In his 114.1 innings and 11-6 mark this season, Price has a 4.17 ERA with 114 Ks and 35 BBs.

JD Martinez is the Sox’ leading hitter this year, with 125 hits, 76 runs, 32 homers and 89 RBI. In the Sunday finale against the Twins, Martinez put up two hits and three RBI.

The Phillies are 4-0 in their last four versus the AL East and 4-1 in the last five in game one of a series. Philly is also 14-3 in Nola’s last 17 starts and 6-1 in his last seven starts with five days’ rest.

Meanwhile, the Red Sox are 5-0 in their last five Monday games and 6-1 in their last seven during game one of a series. Boston is also 5-0 in Price’s last five home starts and 11-2 in his last 13 starts.

Nola had a string of five quality starts broken in his last outing against the Dodgers, but he allowed just three earned in 5.0 innings during that one. As for Price, he coughed up 12 earned in a two-start run, but since then has given up just three earned in 13.0 innings since then. This should be a decent pitching matchup, and though I’m favoring the Red Sox the under doesn’t seem too bad either.
