Boston Red Sox -155 / Seattle Mariners +145 O/U: 10.5
The Seattle Marines and the Boston Red Sox will match up to finish their MLB series on Sunday.
In the Friday opener, the Sox powered out a 14-1 win, then on Saturday Boston made it two straight with a 9-5 victory.
For the Sunday game, the Mariners will be bringing out Marco Gonzales in the start. Across 52.2 innings and a 5-1 mark this year, Gonzales has a 3.08 ERA with 39 Ks and 13 walks.
After recording four runs in the first inning Saturday, the Mariners’ offense died and they scored just once afterward. Omar Navarez was the only Seattle player with more than one hit (two) and he had a run and an RBI as well following his solo homer.
Over on the Sox’ side, they’re going with Hector Velazquez on Sunday. Across an 0-2 mark this year, Velazquez has a 4.03 ERA with 19 strikeouts.
Boston had the bats working in the Saturday victory, totaling 10 hits as a team. Three of those hits went to Rafael Devers, who had two RBI and a run also.
The Mariners are 12-5 in their last 17 in game three of a series and 4-1 in Gonzales’ last five road starts. Seattle is 2-6 in Gonzales’ last eight starts with four days’ rest and 1-4 in his last five versus the AL East.
Meanwhile, the sox are 49-14 in their last 63 in game three of a series and 26-10 in their last 36 Sunday games. The under is 4-1 in the Sox last five Sunday games a well, and they’re 6-1 in their last seven overall.
Overall, Gonzales has been quite sharp this season, aside from one hiccup versus the Cubs with three earned in 1.2 innings on five hits and three walks. Aside from that, he’s got three starts in his last four games.
I like Gonzales to keep it going here enough to take a chance on the Mariners for the victory.
