The Line: Boston Red Sox -230 / Tampa Bay Rays +212 --- Over/Under: 8.5
Headed our way Saturday from historic Fenway Park, the Tampa Bay Rays and the Boston Red Sox will be continuing their MLB set.
In the Friday opener, the Sox peppered in runs in all but three frames as they cruised to a 7-3 win.
For Saturday’s game, the Rays will be sending out RHP Tyler Glasnow. In his 68.0 innings and 1-2 mark this year, Glasnow has a 3.97 ERA with 92 Ks and 37 BBs.
Tampa Bay’s Matt Duffy leads the team this year with 116 hits, 42 runs and 32 RBI heading into this set. In the opener, Duffy was 0-for-3.
Over on the Sox’ side, they’re going with David Price on Saturday. Across 134.1 innings and a 12-6 record this year, Price has a 3.75 ERA with 134 Ks and 39 BBs.
JD Martinez is the top Sox hitter this year, and he came into this series on 147 hits, 88 runs, 37 homers and 104 RBI. On Friday, Martinez posted a hit, an RBI and two runs.
The Rays are 10-3 in their last 13 games versus a left-handed starter and the under is 6-0-1 in their last seven road games versus a left-handed starter. The under is 6-2-1 in the Rays’ last nine Saturday games and 21-8-1 in their last 30 in game two of a series.
Meanwhile, the Sox are 20-6 in their last 26 Saturday games and 5-0 in Price’s last five Saturday starts. Boston is 12-2 in Price’s last 14 starts on grass and 20-8 in his last 28 starts overall.
Over his three starts for the Rays, Glasnow has allowed just three earned on six hits across 12.0 innings. Price, meanwhile, has been his regular reliable self over his last five starts (all quality), giving up a total of just six earned. I doubt Price will have a ton of trouble here so I’m going Sox in this game.
