The Texas Rangers and Boston Red Sox meet Monday in MLB action at Fenway Park.
The Texas Rangers look for a win after winning seven of their last 10 games. The Rangers have scored 21 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in nine of their last 13 games. The Texas Rangers have won seven of their last nine games when scoring four or more runs. Elvis Andrus leads the Rangers with 68 hits and 33 RBI while Shin-Soo Choo and Nomar Mazara have combined for 128 hits and 63 RBI. Mike Minor gets the ball, and he is 5-4 with a 2.55 ERA and 87 strikeouts this season. Minor is 1-3 with a 3.77 ERA and 23 strikeouts in his career against the Red Sox.
The Boston Red Sox look for a win after splitting their last 10 games. The Red Sox have scored eight runs in their last three games and three or less runs in five of their last 10 games. The Boston Red Sox have lost 10 straight games when scoring three or less runs. Rafael Devers leads the Red Sox with 75 hits and 40 RBI while Xander Bogaerts and Mookie Betts have combined for 138 hits and 71 RBI. Chris Sale gets the ball, and he is 2-7 with a 3.84 ERA and 110 strikeouts this season. Sale is 7-2 with a 2.82 ERA and 90 strikeouts in his career against the Rangers.
The Rangers are 2-5 in their last 7 Monday games, 5-16 in their last 21 during game 1 of a series and 2-5 in Minor's last 7 road starts. The Red Sox are 12-4 in their last 16 Monday games, 1-5 in their last 6 home games and 1-4 in Sale's last 5 home starts. The Rangers are 0-7 in the last 7 meetings in Boston and 3-13 in the last 16 meetings. The over is 7-2-2 in Sale's last 11 home starts. The under is 6-1 in Minor's last 7 starts overall.
We're getting big plus money with the hotter team in the Texas Rangers and a starting pitcher in Minor who has allowed three or less earned runs in nine of his last 10 starts. While he's always been a middle of the rotation guy who wasn't anything special, this is easily shaping up to be his best season and he's worthy of some action. While we're used to seeing Sale at these prices and he's usually worth it, he's given up some runs this year, especially at home where he has a 4.45 ERA. The Boston Red Sox should be favored, but this line feels a bit steep. It's worth at least considering the Rangers and the big plus money.
