The Atlanta Braves and the Cincinnati Reds face off on Thursday at Turner Field for game three of their MLB series.
The Atlanta Braves dropped game one of the series on Thursday to the Reds but bounced back on Friday for a come from behind win. Kelly Johnson hit a home run and A.J. Pierzynski and Eric Young had hits as the Braves scored four runs on give hits. Starting pitcher Michael Foltynewicz allowed six hits and three runs, two earned, while striking out two over 5.0 innings to get the win and go to 1-0 for the season and Jason Grilli earned his eight save. For Saturday’s game the Braves start Eric Stults who has allowed 20 hits and 10 earned runs while striking out 13 over 22.1 innings for a 1-1 record and a 4.03 ERA.
The Cincinnati Reds got of to an early lead on Friday but they were unable to make it stand up as they lost to the Braves. Zack Cozart, Joey Votto, and Brandon Phillips each had two hits as the Reds scored three runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Anthony DeScalfani allowed four hits and four runs while striking out five over 5.0 innings to take the loss. Atlanta is 3-8 in their last 11 games, 2-5 in their last seven home games, and 2-6 against the NL Central. Cincinnati is 16-36 in their last 52 road games, 20-43 as a road underdog, and 1-4 in game three of a series.
I am not a fan of Stults and pretty much play against him every time out so this case is no different.
