The Atlanta Braves and the Chicago Cubs will meet up on the MLB diamond Tuesday to continue their series.

In the Monday opener of this set, the Cubs banged out five runs in the fifth inning on the way to an 8-3 win.

For the Tuesday matchup, the Braves are going with Max Fried in the start. Over 82.2 innings and an 8-3 mark so far, Fried has a 4.03 ERA with 76 Ks and 22 BBs.

Atlanta mustered eight hits on the evening Monday. Nick Markakis was the only Braves player with multiple RBI, logging two with one hit. Markakis is now hitting .275 this year.

Over on the Cubs’ side, they’re sending out Adbert Alzolay in the start Tuesday. Across his 4.0 innings this year, Alzolay is 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA, five Ks and two walks.

Chicago had three players with multiple hits on Monday, and just about everybody got in on the action. Wilson Contreras was a big help with two hits, a homer and three RBI.

The Braves are 2-8 in their last 10 Tuesday games and 4-0 in Fried’s last four starts. Atlanta is 5-1 in Fried’s last six starts versus the NL Central and 5-1 in his last six versus a team with a winning record.

Meanwhile, the Cubs are 7-3 in their last 10 Tuesday games and the over is 12-3-1 in their last 16 in game two of a series. The under is 19-9 in the Cubs’ last 28 Tuesday games.

Fried has a couple of good quality starts under his belt over his last four games, with five combined earned in 12.0 innings. Trouble is, in the other two of those four, he’s got 10 earned in 8.2 innings.

As for Alzolay, we’ve got just the one lengthy relief effort to gauge him on, but things went swimmingly for him in that outing. It’ll be interesting to see what he can do here.

This one’s probably a coin-flip game, but the Braves have been playing fairly well lately and may be able to snag a road win here. I’m going Atlanta.
