The Line: Chicago Cubs -260 / Chicago White Sox +237 --- Over/Under:
Up at famous Wrigley Field on Friday, the Chicago White Sox and the Chicago Cubs will kick off their crosstown rivalry series in MLB activity.
The Sox just finished up against the Pirates this week. Chicago lost both those games 10-6 and 6-5.
RHP Carson Fulmer will be taking the mound for the Sox on Friday. In his 28.2 innings and 2-2 record this year, Fulmer has a 5.02 ERA with 24 Ks and 15 BBs.
Leading the way for the offense this year is the Sox’ Yolmer Sanchez, with 38 hits, 14 runs and 18 RBI. Jose Abreu is right there as well on 35 hits, 16 runs, seven homers and 19 RBI.
Over on the Cubs’ side, they played the Marlins this week. Chicago won each of those games 14-2, 4-3 and 13-4.
The Cubs will be sending out Tyler Chatwood in the start Friday. Over 32.2 innings and a 2-3 record this year, Chatwood has a 3.31 ERA with 32 Ks and 27 BBs.
Javier Baez is the leading Cubs hitter this season on his 37 hits, 25 runs, 10 homers and 33 RBI. Kris Bryant is doing well also on 33 hits, 22 runs, six homers and 17 RBI.
The White Sox are 16-36 in their last 52 road games and 2-6 in their last eight Friday games. The Sox are also 6-23 in their last 29 overall and 4-1 in Fulmer’s last five road starts.
Meanwhile, the Cubs are 6-1 in their last seven following a win and 9-2 in their last 11 home games. The Cubs are also 21-8 in their last 29 in game one of a series and 40-19 in their last 59 games following an off day.
Fulmer had a couple of good outings under his belt until he gave up four earned in 3.2 innings on seven hits versus the Twins. As for Chatwood, he’s been pretty solid overall aside from a couple of hiccups here and there. All things considered this should be a winnable game for the Cubs.
