The Chicago White Sox will match up with the Chicago Cubs in MLB activity on Tuesday.

The White Sox are coming off a split set with the Yankees this weekend. Chicago won 5-4 on Thursday and 10-2 on Friday before falling 8-4 Saturday and 10-3 Sunday.

For Tuesday’s game, the Sox will be going with Ivan Nova for the start. Over his 77.1 innings and 3-5 record this year, Nova has a 6.28 ERA with 51 Ks and 21 BBs.

Over on the Cubs’ side, they just came off a set versus the Dodgers. Chicago managed a win Saturday 2-1 but otherwise fell Thursday 7-3, Friday 5-3 and Sunday 3-2.

The Cubs will be going with Cole Hamels on Tuesday. Over his 84.2 innings and 6-2 mark so far, Hamels has a 2.98 ERA with 83 Ks and 30 BBs.

The White Sox are 23-47 in their last 70 after an off day and 16-39 in their last 55 Tuesday games. The Sox are 4-1 in Nova’s last five starts with four days’ rest and 4-1 in the last five versus a left-handed starter.

Meanwhile, the Cubs are 6-1 in their last seven after an off day and 7-2 in the last nine Tuesday games. The Cubs are 2-5 in their last seven overall and 5-1 in Hamels’ last six home starts.

Nova had a nice run of three solid starts at the beginning of this month but in his pair since he’s been sketchier with eight earned on 11.0 innings and hasn’t won since May 22.

As for Hamels, he’s been on a nice roll over his last three, with zero earned in 22.0 innings overall and 23 strikeouts. With Hamels throwing like that right now, I have to take the Cubs on the win here.

Pick:
Chicago Cubs -225
