Chicago Cubs -127 / Cincinnati Reds +117 O/U: 10.5
The Cincinnati Reds and the Chicago Cubs will meet up on the MLB circuit to continue their series on Tuesday.
In the Monday opener of this set, The Reds were down 3-1 after four innings but stormed back to take a 6-3 victory.
For Tuesday’s matchup, the Reds will be sending out Anthony DeSclafani for the start. In his 86.2 inning and 5-4 mark so far, DeSclafani has a 4.26 ERA with 90 Ks and 26 BBs.
The Reds offense took a little while to get going on Monday but came away with 10 hits when the night was finished. Cincinnati’s only player with two hits was Yasiel Puig, who notched a solo homer.
Over on the Cubs’ side, they’re going with Alec Mills in the start Tuesday. This will be his first big league start of the year, appearing in place of Cole Hamels who is currently injured.
Chicago posted nine hits in the Monday loss, but couldn’t score after the fourth inning and also had a pair of errors. Four different Cubs players had two hits on the night.
The Reds are 5-2 in their last seven Tuesday games and 4-1 in DeSclafani’s last five starts in game two of a series. Cincinnati is 6-2 in DeSclafani’s last eight road starts and 3-8 in his last 11 versus the NL Central.
Meanwhile, the Cubs are 0-4 in their last four Tuesday games and the under is 4-1 in their last five Tuesday games. The under is 4-1-1 in Chicago’s last six in game two of a series and they’re 1-4 in DeSclafani’s last five starts against them.
DeSclafani has consecutive quality starts to his credit, posting two earned on 12 hits in 12.0 innings during that stretch. He’s 1-0 during that pair with 13 total strikeouts.
As for Mills, he made seven appearances last season for the Cubs; mostly during spot starts. In 2018 he was 0-1 with a 4.00 ERA.
It’s tough to know what to expect out of Mills here, and he probably won’t be in the game long. The Reds seem like a more sensible play Tuesday.
