The Line: Chicago Cubs -162 / Cleveland Indians +152 --- Over/Under:
Coming up Wednesday from historic Wrigley Field, the Cleveland Indians and the Chicago Cubs will be finishing out their series.
In Tuesday’s game, the Indians trounced Chicago 10-1 despite holding just an 11-10 edge in hitting.
For Wednesday’s matchup, the Indians will be going with RHP Adam Plutko in the start. Over his 7.1 innings and 1-0 mark this season, Plutko has a 3.68 ERA with six Ks and no walks.
Heading into this set, Francisco Lindor led the way for the Indians with 56 hits, 36 runs, 12 homers and 27 RBI. On Tuesday, Lindor had two hits and two runs.
Over on the Cubs’ side, they’re going with Jon Lester on Wednesday. Across his 50.0 innings and 4-1 record this year, Lester has a 2.52 ERA with 44 Ks and 21 BBs.
The Cubs’ top hitter entering this series was Kris Bryant, with 46 hits, 29 runs and 24 RBI to his credit. On Tuesday, Bryant had one hit.
The Indians are 4-0 in their last four Wednesday games and 22-9 in their last 31 in game two of a series. Cleveland is also 36-17 in their last 53 versus a left-handed starter and the under is 6-1-2 in their last nine Wednesday games.
Meanwhile, the Cubs are 36-15 in Lester’s last 51 home starts and 7-3 in his last 10 Wednesday starts. Chicago is also 42-20 in Lester’s last 62 starts and 18-8 in his last 26 starts in game two of a series.
Overall, Plutko’s numbers look pretty decent this year, but he’s had a little bit of an issue over his last 9.1 innings, with six earned on nine hits. Lester, meanwhile, has given up two earned on six hits over his last 11.2 innings in two starts. This may end up being a decent pitching matchup if both guys come out firing, but all in all I don’t think the Cubs will falter here.
