The Colorado Rockies and the Chicago Cubs will meet up on the MLB diamond to start off their series on Tuesday.

The Rockies just finished up a weekend set against the Blue Jays. Colorado was able to sweep that series 13-6 Friday, 4-2 Saturday and 5-1 Sunday, and they’ve now won eight straight games.

For the Tuesday game, Colorado will go with Jeff Hoffman in the start. Over his 15.0 innings and 1-1 mark so far, Hoffman has a 7.20 ERA with 15 Ks and four walks.

Over on the Cubs’ side, they were swept by the Cardinals this weekend before a one-off game versus the Angels on Monday. In that matchup, the Cubs cruised to an 8-1 victory, allowing just four hits to LA.

In Tuesday’s game, Chicago will send out Kyle Hendricks in the start. Over his 70.0 innings and 5-4 record this year, Hendricks has a 3.09 ERA with 61 Ks and 13 BBs.

The Rockies are 4-0 in their last four in game one of a series and 8-0 in their last eight overall. Colorado is 4-1 in their last five versus the NL Central and 2-5 in their last seven road games.

Meanwhile, the Cubs are 6-1 in their last seven Tuesday games and 1-6 in their last seven overall. Chicago is 5-1 in Hendricks’ last six starts and 8-3 in his last 11 home starts.

Hoffman has just the three starts to look at this year, and he’s had some mixed results. He’s given up a total of 12 earned in 15.0 innings, but it’s worth noting that all those outings were at home.

As for Hendricks, he’s pitching pretty well right now with five quality outings in his last six starts, and he’s coming off one earned in 8.0 innings in Houston.

Going up against a rested and rolling team in the Rockies will be a tough challenge for Hendricks, but I think he’ll do well here. I’m going Cubs.
