Miami Marlins (13-20) at Chicago Cubs (16-15)
|Date & Time||Tuesday May 8, 2018, 8:05 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Chicago Cubs -235 / Miami Marlins +216 --- Over/Under:
Up at historic Wrigley Field on Tuesday evening, the Miami Marlins and the Chicago Cubs will be meeting up once again in MLB action.
In the Monday opener, the Cubs jumped out to an early lead and cruised to a big 14-2 win.
For Tuesday’s game, the Marlins are going with RHP Jose Urena. In his 40.0 innings and 0-5 mark this season, Urena has a 4.28 ERA with 32 Ks and 11 BBs.
Leading the way for the Marlins coming into this set was Starlin Castro, with 39 hits, 19 runs and 16 RBI. On Monday, Castro came up empty.
Over on the Cubs’ side, it’ll be Yu Darvish’s turn on Tuesday. Across his 30.0 innings and 0-3 record this year, Darvish has a 6.00 ERA with 37 Ks and 16 BBs.
Tops in hitting for the Cubs entering this set was Javier Baez with 34 hits, 23 runs, nine homers and 29 RBI. In the Monday game, Baez hit a three-run homer.
The Marlins are 4-0 in their last four in game two of a series and 10-4 in Urena’s last 14 road starts. Miami is also 1-10 in Urena’s last 11 starts and 0-7 in his last seven starts with five days’ rest.
Meanwhile, the Cubs are 1-4 in their last five during game two of a series and 1-5 in their last six Tuesday games. The under is 4-1 in the Cubs’ last five during game two of a series and 4-1 in Darvish’s last five starts.
Over his last two games, Urena has been very solid with just two earned on 13 hits across 14 innings. As for Darvish, he’s been really choppy so far, and coughed up five earned on seven hits in 4.1 innings his last time out versus the Rockies. If both guys are on point, this could be a really good pitching matchup. That said, if the Marlins are going to get a win, this game is a good spot to do it. I’m going Marlins as a value pick, assuming their offense shows up.
