|Date & Time||Wednesday August 13, 2014, 8:05 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Chicago Cubs +125 / Milwaukee Brewers -135 --- Over/Under:
The Chicago Cubs and the Milwaukee Brewers face off on Wednesday at Wrigley Field as they continue their series.
The Chicago Cubs continue to build for the future and we saw a glimpse of what they see as a best case scenario as they shutout the Brewers on Tuesday. Anthony Rizzo hit a home run and Arismendy Alcantara and Justin Ruggiano each had two hits as Cubs scored three runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks allowed six hits and struck out five over 7.1 innings to get the win and go to 4-1 for the season and hector Rondon earned his 15th save. For Wednesday’s game the Cubs start Tsuyoshi Wada who has no decisions in both of his last two starts. For the season Wada has allowed 25 hits and 10 earned runs while striking out 25 over 27.2 innings for a 1-1 record and a 3.25 ERA.
The Milwaukee Brewers fell to the Cubs on Tuesday as they just couldn’t take advantage of their scoring chances. Mark Reynolds had two hits and Carlos Gomez and Aramis Ramirez had hits but the Brewers didn’t score on six hits. Starting pitcher Wily Peralta allowed seven hits and three runs while striking out three over 6.1 innings to take the loss and fall to 14-7 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the Brewers start Kyle Lohse who has slowed down after a hot start to the season. For the year Lohse has allowed 148 hits and 58 earned runs while striking out 111 over 156.2 innings for an 11-6 record and a 3.33 ERA.
Chicago is 5-9 in their last 14 games as a home underdog, 3-5 at home against a team with a winning record, and 1-4 in Wada’s last five starts. Milwaukee is 36-17 in game three of a series, 2-5 against a left-handed starter, and 16-7 in Lohse’s last 23 starts. Milwaukee is 39-18 in the last 57 meetings of these two.
Milwaukee is the better team here and expect them to get the bats going and get the win easily.
