MLB | Milwaukee Brewers (66-55) at Chicago Cubs (52-67)

The Chicago Cubs and the Milwaukee Brewers face off on Thursday at Wrigley Field as they close out their series.

It has been another miserable season for the Chicago Cubs but on Wednesday they got the win over the Brewers for the second night in a row. Javier Baez and Anthony Rizzo each hit home runs and Chris Coghlan and Starlin Castro each had three hits as the Cubs scored four runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Tsuyoshi Wada allowed five hits and two runs while striking out five over 6.2 innings to get the win to to raise his record to 2-1 for the season and Hector Rondon earned his 16th save. For Thursday’s game the Cubs start Edwin Jackson who has lost five of his last six decisions. For the season Jackson has allowed 149 hits and 82 earned runs while striking out 117 over 131.2 innings for a 6-12 record and a 5.61 ERA.

The Milwaukee Brewers continue to lead the NL Central but they have suffered back-to-back losses at Wrigley Field. Rickie Weeks and Martin Moldonado each hit home runs and Jonathan Lucrroy and Aramis Ramirez each had hits as the Brewers scored two runs on six hits. Starting pitcher Kyle Lohse allowed seven hits and four runs while striking out three over 3.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 11-7 for the season. For Thursday’s game the Brewers start Mike Fiers who got a win in his last start. For the season Fiers has allowed nine hits and three runs while striking out 10 over 15 innings for a 1-1 record and a 1.80 ERA.

Chicago is 21-41 against the NL Central, 6-15 against a right-handed starter, and 1-4 in Jackson’s last five home starts. Milwaukee is 3-8 in their last 11 road games, 4-11 against a team with a losing record, and 1-5 in Fiers’ last six stats. Milwaukee is 39-18 in their last 57 games against Chicago.

I am expecting some offense in tis one and my free pick will be on the over. My stronger pick is on the winning side and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
