The Line: Chicago Cubs -135 / Philadelphia Phillies +125 --- Over/Under:
Coming up from Wrigley Field on Wednesday, the Philadelphia Phillies and the Chicago Cubs will be continuing their MLB series.
In the Tuesday game, the Phillies managed a 6-1 win, scoring five of their runs in the second and third innings.
For Wednesday’s matchup, the Phillies will be going with RHP Aaron Nola. In his 78.1 innings and 7-2 record this year, Nola has a 2.18 ERA with 74 Ks and 18 BBs.
Tops in hitting for the Phillies this year is Odubel Herrera, with 64 hits, 25 runs and 32 RBI coming into this set. On Tuesday, Herrera managed a hit and a run.
Over on the Cubs’ side, they’re starting Jose Quintana on Wednesday. Over his 58.2 innings and 4.30 ERA this year, Quintana has a 6-4 record with 57 Ks and 29 BBs.
Entering this series, Kris Bryant led the Cubs with 58 hits, 32 runs and 28 RBI to his credit. In the Tuesday opener, Bryant posted two hits and a run.
The Phillies are 5-1 in the last six Wednesday games and 11-5 in their last 16 in game two of a series. Philadelphia is also 7-1 in Nola’s last eight starts and 2-7 in his last nine road starts.
Meanwhile, the Cubs are 1-5 in their last six Wednesday games and 10-3 in Quintana’s last 13 home starts. Chicago is also 14-6 in Quintana’s last 20 starts and 5-2 in his last seven starts versus the NL East.
It’s been a pretty good run of games for Nola, who has just two earned on three hits over 13.2 innings in his last two starts. Quintana, meanwhile, has been a little choppy, with two good starts (zero earned in 13.0 innings on four hits) and two bad ones (10 earned in 9.0 innings on 14 hits) across his last four. Value-wise, this might be a good spot to take the Phillies.
