The Chicago White Sox and the Cleveland Indians face off on Tuesday in game two of their MLB series of American League Central teams.
The Chicago White Sox didn’t get a ton of offense on Monday but they got enough to get the win. Melky Cabrera and Conor Gillaspie each had two hits and Adam Eaton had a hit and scored a run as the White Sox scored two runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Chris Sale allowed four hits and a run while striking seven over 8.0 innings to not get a decision as Zach Duke got the win to go to 2-2 for the season. For Tuesday’s game the White Sox start Jose Quintana who has allowed 43 hits and 20 earned runs while striking out 39 over41 innings for a 2-3 record and a 4.39 ERA.
The Cleveland Indians bats were nearly silent as they lost in Chicago in extra innings on Monday. Jose Ramirez had two hits and Brandon Moss and Roberto Perez each had hits as the Indians scored one run on four hits. Starting pitcher Corey Kluber allowed five hits and a run while striking out 12 over 9.0 innings to not get a decision as Zach McCallister took the loss. For Tuesday’s game the Indians start Trevor Bauer who has allowed 35 hits and 17 earned runs while striking out 44 over 41.2 innings for a 2-1 record and a 3.67 ERA.
Chicago is 4-0 in game two of a series, 6-1 as a favorite, and 2-5 in Quintana’s last seven starts against the AL Central. Cleveland is 4-1 in game two of a series, 5-13 as an underdog, and 1-4 in Bauer’s last five starts. Cleveland is 3-9 in their last 12 games in Chicago.
The White Sox are just red hot right now so at home against Bauer who is coming off of a strong outing but who has been tagged this year I have to take them to raise the winning streak to seven in a row.
