The Chicago White Sox and the Cleveland Indians face off on Wednesday on Chicago’s South Side for game three of heir MLB series of AL Central teams.
The Chicago White Sox managed to win game one against the Indians with little offense but they weren’t as fortunate losing on Tuesday. Adam Eaton, Jose Abreu, and Avisail Garcia each had hits as the White Sox scored one run on four hits. Starting pitcher Jose Quintana allowed eight hits and two runs while striking out four over 7.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 2-4 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the White Sox start Carlos Rondon who has allowed 18 hits and nine runs while striking out 17 over 16.1 innings for a 2-1 record and a 4.96 ERA.
The Cleveland Indians didn’t get a ton of offense on Tuesday but they got enough to get the win in Chicago. Brandon Moss hit a home run, Jason Kipnis had two hits, and Michael Brantley had a hit as the Indians scored three runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Trevor Bauer allowed four hits and run while striking out seven over 7.1 innings to get the win and go to 3-1 for the season and Cody Allen earned his seventh save. For Wednesday’s game the Indians start Shaun Marcum who allowed three hits and a run while striking out four over 5.0 innings of relief in his only action of the season over a month ago.
Chicago is 6-1 in their last seven games, 5-2 as a home favorite, and 7-3 in their last 10 home games. Cleveland is 6-12 as an underdog, 4-8 as a road underdog, and 2-8 in game three of a series. Cleveland is 4-8 in their last 12 games in Chicago.
Look for the White Sox bats to wake up against Marcum and for them to get back to winning.
