Chicago White Sox +154 / Cleveland Indians -164 O/U: 9
The Cleveland Indians and the Chicago White Sox will match up on the MLB diamond to continue their series Friday.
In the Thursday opener, the Sox’ offense went off for a huge 10-4 win.
For Friday’s game, the Indians will be sending out Trevor Bauer in the start. Over his 76.2 innings and 4-4 record this year, Bauer has a 3.99 ERA with 88 Ks and 36 BBs.
The Indians were out-hit 15-6 on Thursday and couldn’t get much going offensively. The lone hitter with two knocks was Jason Kipnis, who went 2-for-4.
Over on the White Sox’ side, they’re going with Dylan Covey in the start on Friday. Through 26.1 innings and an 0-4 mark so far, Covey has a 5.47 ERA with 13 Ks and 18 BBs.
Chicago racked up 15 hits in the Thursday victory. One of the big contributors was Jose Abreu with a homer, three RBI and two runs.
The Indians are 1-4 in Bauer’s last five starts and 1-4 in his last five on grass. Cleveland is 0-4 in Bauer’s last four starts in game two of a series and 8-3 in his last 11 road starts.
Meanwhile, the White Sox are 1-4 in their last five in game two of a series and 0-4 in their last four Friday games. Chicago is 1-8 in Covey’s last nine home starts and 0-5 in his last five in game two of a series.
Bauer’s numbers are kind of all over the place lately, which explains his .500 record. The good news is that he’s eating up a lot of innings, and thus taking a little pressure off the bullpen. Bauer did put up a quality start in his last appearance as well.
Then there’s Covey, who has given up four earned in three of his last four appearances (one in the other one) and is fairly unpredictable as well.
All things considered, I’m going Indians but I’m not in love with the pick.
