The Cleveland Indians and the Chicago White sox will be continuing their MLB series on Tuesday from Guaranteed Rate Field.
In the Monday opener, the Indians scored three runs in the ninth inning to pad a 4-0 victory.
For Tuesday’s game, the Indians will be sending out RHP Trevor Bauer. In his 167.1 innings and 12-6 record this year, Bauer has a 2.21 ERA with 215 Ks and 57 BBs.
Tops in hitting for the Indians is Francisco Lindor, with 178 hits, 124 runs, 36 homers and 89 RBI coming into this set. On Monday, Lindor rested and Yonder Alonso put up three hits.
Over on the Sox’ side, they’re going with James Shields on Tuesday. Across his 198.2 innings and 7-16 record this year, Shields has a 4.48 ERA with 148 Ks.
The Sox’ lead bat this year is Yolmer Sanchez, with 140 hits, 58 runs and 52 RBI coming into this series. In the opener, Sanchez came up empty.
The Indians are 4-0 in their last four in game two of a series and 6-0 in their last six Tuesday games. Cleveland is also 6-1 in Bauer’s last seven starts and 4-0 in his last four road starts.
Meanwhile, the Sox are 23-49 in their last 72 in game two of a series and 15-37 in their last 52 Tuesday games. The under is 5-1-3 in the Sox’ last nine Tuesday games and 9-4-2 in the last 15 in game two of a series.
Bauer had a pretty lengthy layoff before his last start, and he managed to throw 34 pitches in 1.1 innings against the Red Sox Friday. As for Shields, this will be he last hurrah in 2018, and he’s coming off two straight quality starts. Bauer won’t be out there long for this one, so I’m going with Shields and the Sox here.
