Chicago White Sox -125 / Kansas City Royals +115 O/U: 9.5
The Kansas City Royals and the Chicago White Sox will meet up in MLB action as they kick off their series Monday.
Kansas City just finished up a set versus the Indians this weekend. The Royals took an 8-1 win Friday and a 3-0 win Saturday, then on Sunday Kansas City kept it going with a walk-off 9-8 victory. Whit Merrifield bagged a solo homer in the second inning of that victory, and he’s now hitting .328 on the year.
For the Monday game, the Royals will be sending out Heath Fillmyer in the start. Fillmyer doesn’t yet have a decision on the year, and he’s carrying a fat 15.00 ERA with just two strikeouts.
Over on the White Sox’ side, they’re fresh off a series versus the Yankees. Chicago split the first two games of that set, then on Sunday the Sox got a big win 5-2. Tim Anderson was the difference in that game for the Sox, ripping a grand slam in the fourth inning.
For Monday’s matchup, the Sox will be going with Ervin Santana in the start. With just one start—and a loss—under his belt this year, Santana carries a 17.18 ERA with one strikeout.
The Royals are 2-10 in their last 12 overall and 2-6 in their last eight versus the AL Central. KC is 15-41 in the last 56 road games and 7-19 in their last 26 Monday games.
Meanwhile, the Sox are 2-5 in their last seven in game one of a series and 0-4 in their last four Monday games. Chicago is 3-14 in their last 17 home games and 7-20 in their last 27 overall.
This will be Fillmyer’s second start of the season, and the Royals are hoping he’ll be better here. In his first start this year versus Seattle, Fillmyer put up five runs, six hits and two walks in three innings.
As for Santana, he’s just 7-10 with a 4.75 ERA lifetime against the Royals, and he’s seen them 27 times in his career. I have to think that Santana is easily the better pitcher here, so I’m going with the White Sox in the win.
