Chicago White Sox -111 / Kansas City Royals +101 O/U: 9.5
The Kansas City Royals and the Chicago White Sox will be finishing up their MLB set on Wednesday.
The White Sox eked out a 5-4 victory in the opener of this series Monday, then on Tuesday Chicago bagged another win 5-1.
For Wednesday’s matchup, the Royals will be sending out Brad Keller for the start. Over his 25.2 innings and 2-1 mark this year, Keller has a 2.45 ERA with 23 Ks and 13 BBs.
In the loss Tuesday, Kansas City’s Lucas Duda put up a solo homer in the second which marked a brief lead and the team’s only run. Whit Merrifield would add a 1-for-4 performance for the Royals as well.
Over on the White Sox’ side, they’re going with Lucas Giolito on Wednesday. Over 16.0 innings and a 2-1 record this season, Giolito has a 6.19 ERA with 18 Ks and nine walks.
Yonder Alonso had a great day for the White Sox on Tuesday, putting up four hits in four attempts and adding a solo homer. Yoan Moncada also registered two solo homers for Chicago there.
The Royals are 7-19 in the last 26 Wednesday games and 9-43 in their last 52 in game three of a series. Kansas City is 3-8 in Keller’s last 11 road starts and 1-5 in his last six starts in game three of a series.
Meanwhile, the Sox are 2-5 in their last seven in game three of a series and 2-7 in Giolito’s last nine starts. Chicago is 0-5 in Giolito’s last five home starts and 3-7 in his last 10 starts with four days’ rest.
It’s been a great 2019 for Keller so far, as he’s got three straight quality starts to his credit already. Keller faced the White Sox in his season debut back on March 28 and tossed 7.0 shutout innings with just two hits allowed.
As for Giolito, he hasn’t fared so well since his season debut, with nine earned in his last two starts across 9.1 innings.
All things considered, I like Keller to keep it going and put the Royals in a good position to win.
