The Line: Chicago White Sox +130 / Milwaukee Brewers -140 --- Over/Under: 9.5
Up at Guaranteed Rate Field on Saturday, the Milwaukee Brewers and the Chicago White Sox will be matching up to continue their MLB series.
In the Friday opener, the Sox secured an 8-3 victory, out-hitting the Brewers 11-5 on the evening.
For Saturday’s game, the Brewers will be bringing out RHP Jhoulys Chacin for the start. In his 63.1 innings and 3-1 record this year, Chacin has a 3.69 ERA with 45 Ks and 28 BBs.
Tops in hitting for the Brewers this year are Lorenzo Cain and Christian Yelich, who each came into this set with 55 hits. On Friday, the two combined for an 0-for-5 line but Yelich scored a run.
Over on the White Sox side, they’re going with RHP James Shields on Saturday. In his 69.1 innings and 1-5 record this year, Shields has a 4.54 ERA with 45 Ks and 30 BBs.
Jose Abreu led the way for the Sox coming into this set with 61 hits, 28 runs and 31 RBI to his name. In the opener, Abreu put up two hits and a run.
The Brewers are 13-5 in their last 18 in game two of a series and 5-2 in their last seven Saturday games. Milwaukee is also 7-1 in Chacin’s last eight starts and 5-2 in his last seven road starts.
Meanwhile, the Sox are 14-37 in their last 51 during game two of a series and 2-6 in Shields’ last eight starts. Chicago is also 1-7 in Shields’ last eight Saturday starts and 2-6 in his last seven starts with five days’ rest.
Chacin was cruising along quite well for a four-game stretch, then he tripped up and allowed five earned on eight hits in 6.1 innings in his last start. As for Shields, he’s sitting on three straight quality starts with at least 7.0 innings in each. I like Chacin to bounce back here more than I do Shields to keep it going so I’m going Brewers in this game.
