Minnesota Twins / Chicago White Sox -- O/U:
The Minnesota Twins and the Chicago White Sox meet in game one of a three game AL Central division set in MLB action from Guaranteed Rate Field on Friday.
The Minnesota Twins will look to bounce back after dropping their series finale against Tampa Bay, losing a 5-2 decision in an 18-inning marathon on Thursday. Luis Arraez went 3 for 7 with an RBI while Mitch Garver had an RBI as well in the loss. Jorge Polanco went 2 for 7 with a double while Nelson Cruz, C.J. Cron, Jonathan Schoop and Jake Cave each had base hits as well in the losing effort. Martin Perez gave up two runs on three hits while striking out six over seven innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Ryne Harper took the loss in relief to fall to 3-1 on the year. Jose Berrios will start game one and is 8-3 with a 2.84 ERA and 97 strikeouts this season. In his career, Berrios is 8-1 with a 2.05 ERA and 71 strikeouts against the White Sox.
The Chicago White Sox will look to build some momentum after salvaging an 8-7 win in their series finale against the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday. Jose Abreu went 3 for 5 with a homer, a double and four RBIs while James McCann had a home run and two RBIs. Jon Jay and Ryan Cordell each had RBIs as well to round out Chicago’s scoring as a team in the win while Leury Garcia went 3 for 5 with a double. Yolmer Sanchez added a base hit of his own to round out Chicago’s offense as a team in the victory. Reynaldo Lopez allowed three runs on nine hits while striking out three over six innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Alex Colome got the win in relief to improve his record to 3-1 on the year. The White Sox have not announced a starting pitcher at the time of posting this article and this information will be updated once it has been released.
Minnesota is 6-0 in Berrios’ last 6 road starts and 21-8 in Berrios’ last 29 division starts while the over is 30-14-5 in their last 49 Friday games. Chicago is 1-4 in their last 5 games overall and 9-4 in their last 13 home games while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 division games. Minnesota is 7-0 in the last 7 meetings between these two teams and 7-0 in Berrios’ last 7 starts against the White Sox.
I’ve gone back and forth on this game, and It’s somewhat difficult not knowing who Chicago is sending to the mound for this one. Minnesota just played two games in one day essentially and had to travel to Chicago for this game, but even so, I still like the Twins here. Berrios has been solid for Minnesota and has flat out owned the White Sox in his career. Chicago just earned a win over Boston, but the White Sox have scuffled lately, and I think the Twins can take game one on Friday, so I’ll side with Minnesota to draw first blood on Friday.
