The Minnesota Twins and the Chicago White Sox will be finishing up their MLB set from Guaranteed Rate Field on Wednesday.
The Sox took an 8-5 win in the opener, then on Tuesday Minnesota returned the favor 5-2.
For Wednesday’s game, the Twins will be sending out RHP Kyle Gibson. In his 154.0 innings and 7-9 mark this yer, Gibson has a 3.51 ERA with 144 Ks and 61 BBs.
Eddie Rosario is the top hitter for the Twins this year, bringing 144 hits, 78 runs, 22 homers and 71 RBI into Tuesday. In game two, Rosario had two hits, a run and an RBI.
Over on the Sox’ side, they’re rolling out Carlos Rodon on Wednesday. In his 80.1 innings and 4-3 mark this year, Rodon has a 2.69 ERA with 64 Ks and 29 BBs.
Tops in hitting for the Sox this season is the injured Jose Abreu, who is sitting on 129 hits, 67 runs, 22 homers and 78 RBI. On Tuesday, the Sox got a pair of solo home runs as their only scoring.
The Twins are 4-9 in their last 13 Wednesday games and 1-5 in their last six in game three of a series. Minnesota is also 12-5 in Gibson’s last 17 starts with four days’ rest and 5-2 in his last seven starts in game three of a series.
Meanwhile, the Sox are 17-36 in their last 53 Wednesday games and 5-1 in Rodon’s last six starts. Chicago is also 7-3 in Rodon’s last 10 home starts and 2-5 in his last seven Wednesday starts.
It’s been a pretty good run of starts for Gibson. He has four quality outings in his last five appearances, allowing more than three earned (four) just once in that time. As for Rodon, he’s been great also, and hasn’t allowed more than three earned in a start since way back on June 30. This should be a fun pitching matchup, but I have to go with Rodon and the Sox here.
