The Chicago White Sox and the Minnesota Twins face off on Sunday in Chicago after playing a doubleheader on Saturday.
The Chicago White Sox have some worjk to do next season but they took care of business on Saturday sweeping the wins on a twin bill. In the second game on Saturday Jose Abreu, Avisail Garcia, and Dayan Viciedo each hit home runs as the White Sox scored seven runs on 11 hits. Starting pitcher Scot Carroll allowed four hits and four runs while striking out two over 5.0 innings for a no decision as Jacob Petricka got the win. For Sunday’s game the White Sox start Hector Noesi ho has no decisions in his last two starts. For the season Noesi has allowed 147 hits and 70 earned runs while striking out 108 over 147.1 innings for an 8-8 record and a 4.28 ERA.
The Minnesota Twins battled to try and get a win in game two of their DH against the White Sox on Saturday but in the end they didn’t have enough. Trevor Plouffe and Oswaldo Arcia each hit home runs and Jordan Schafer had a hit as the Twins scored six runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Logan Darnell allowed seven hits and four runs, three earned, while striking out five over 4.1 innings but Jared Burton blew the save and Glen Perkins took the loss. For Sunday’s game the Twins start Trevor May who has won his last two starts. For the season May has allowed 41 hits and 27 earned runs while striking out 24 over 29 innings for a 2-4 record and a 8.38 ERA.
Chicago is 6-1 in their last seven games, 7-1 in their last eight home games, and 6-1 in Noesi’s last seven starts. Minnesota is 2-7 as a road underdog, 2-8 in their last 10 road games, and 1-4 in May’s last five starts as an underdog.
The Wite Sox are playing well enough and I look for that to continue here.
