The New York Yankees and the Chicago White Sox will meet up at Guaranteed Rate Field on Thursday in MLB action.

New York is coming out of a doubleheader on Tuesday against the Mets in a quick Subway Series. The Yankees took game one of that pair 12-5 but fell in the nightcap 10-4.

For the Thursday game, the Yankees will be going with JA Happ in the start. Over 70.1 innings and a 6-3 record this year, Happ has a 4.48 ERA with 59 Ks and 15 BBs.

Over on the White Sox’ side, they just finished up against the Nationals. Chicago fell 12-1 in the Monday game of that set, then on Tuesday evened it out with a 7-5 victory.

In Thursday’s outing, the Sox will be sending Ivan Nova for the start. Across 71.2 innings and a 3-5 record this season, Nova has a 6.28 ERA with 46 Ks and 19 BBs.

The Yankees are 6-1 in the last seven games following an off day and 2-5 in their last seven road games. New York is 5-0 in Happ’s last five in game one of a series and 10-1 in his last 11 road starts.

Meanwhile, the Sox are 4-1 in their last five Thursday games and 2-5 in their last seven in game one of a series. Chicago is 0-5 in Nova’s last five starts with five days’ rest and 22-47 in their last 69 after an off day.

Happ has had a few sketchy outings here and there this season, but recently he’s been solid. In his last three starts, Happ has a combined five earned on 11 hits in 18.0 innings.

As for Nova, he has two quality starts in his last four outings, and has given up 11 earned over 24.1 innings during that time.

This should be a pretty interesting pitching battle, but all things considered the Yankees should hold most of the cards. I’m going NY.
