|Date & Time||Sunday June 24, 2018, 2:10 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Chicago White Sox +121 / Oakland Athletics -143 --- Over/Under: 9
The Oakland Athletics and Chicago White Sox meet Sunday in MLB action at Guaranteed Rate Field.
The Oakland Athletics look to stay hot after winning six of their last seven games. The Athletics have scored 22 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in each of their last eight games. The Oakland Athletics have won eight of their last 11 games when scoring more than three runs. Jed Lowrie leads the Athletics with 85 hits and 50 RBI while Marcus Semien and Matt Olson have combined for 146 hits and 69 RBI. Paul Blackburn gets the ball, and he is 1-1 with a 8.03 ERA and seven strikeouts this season. This will be Blackburn’s first career game against the White Sox.
The Chicago White Sox could use a victory here after losing 10 of their last 13 games. The White Sox have allowed 22 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in 10 of their last 13 games. The Chicago White Sox have lost 12 of their last 13 games when allowing more than two runs. Offensively, Jose Abreu leads the White Sox with 80 hits and 43 RBI while Yolmer Sanchez and Tim Anderson have combined for 133 hits and 61 RBI. Carlos Rodon gets the ball, and he is 0-2 with a 4.41 ERA and 16 strikeouts this season. Rodon is 1-1 with a 4.67 ERA and 21 strikeouts in his career against the Athletics.
The Athletics are 6-2 in their last 8 during game 4 of a series, 21-7 in their last 28 Sunday games and 6-2 in Blackburns last 8 starts. The White Sox are 1-5 in their last 6 during game 4 of a series, 1-5 in their last 6 home games and 1-4 in Rodons last 5 starts. The Athletics are 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Chicago, 6-1 in the last 7 meetings and the over is 8-0 in the last 8 meetings.
At this point it doesn't really matter who the White Sox are throwing out there or who they're playing, as the results are often the same. Plus money only means something when you can win enough to make a profit. Right now, the White Sox are burning money at a rapid rate. The Oakland Athletics don't often play pretty, but the offense has been hot enough to produce some quality wins and keep them hanging around in the wild card race. The A's are a confident young club, the White Sox are already counting the days until the offseason. Give me Oakland yet again.
