MLB | Texas Rangers (17-28) at Chicago White Sox (11-29)
Mike DiNovo-USA TODAY Sports

Up at Guaranteed Rate Field on Saturday, the Texas Rangers and the Chicago White Sox will be matching up in MLB activity.

In the Thursday opener, the Sox bagged a 4-2 victory. On Friday, Texas struck back on a 12-5 win.

For the Saturday game, the Rangers are going with Ariel Jurado. This will be a spot start in place of Cole Hamels, who woke up to a stiff neck on Wednesday.

Heading into game two, Nomar Mazara led the way for the Rangers with 47 hits, 24 runs, 10 homers and 27 RBI. On Friday, Mazara had two hits and two runs.

Over on the Sox’ side, they’re going with RHP Lucas Giolito on Saturday. In his 41.2 innings and 2-4 record this year, Giolito has a 6.91 ERA with 24 Ks and 32 BBs.

Chicago’s top hitter entering play Friday was Jose Abreu with 44 hits, 20 runs and 21 RBI with seven homers. In the Friday game, Abreu had two hits, two runs and two RBI.

The Rangers are 4-9 in their last 13 Saturday games and 1-4 in their last five during game three of a series. The over is 4-1 in the Rangers’ last five Saturday games and Texas is 2-4 in their last six road games.

Meanwhile, the Sox are 1-5 in their last six Saturday games and 5-0 in Giolito’s last five starts in game three of a series. Chicago is also 2-5 in Giolito’s last seven starts and 1-4 in his last five home starts.

Giolito is a solid pitcher and does have some good stuff, but he’s been wildly inconsistent this year to say the least. Giolito put up 5.2 innings of two-hit ball with three earned in a win versus the Cubs his last time out, but the bad news is that he walked seven guys, his first time breaking two BBs in four starts. That said, Giolito is 2-1 in his last four starts and I think he can hold it together long enough here. I’ll take the Sox, but it will be fun to see what Jurado can do.

Chicago White Sox -108
