The Line: Chicago White Sox -102 / Texas Rangers -108 --- Over/Under: 9.5
Up at Guaranteed Rate Field, the Texas Rangers and the Chicago White Sox will be meeting up in MLB action Sunday to finish their series.
The two teams split the first pair of games, then on Saturday the Sox managed a 5-3 win.
For the Sunday game, the Rangers will be going with lefty Mike Minor. In his 43.1 innings and 3-2 record this year, Minor has a 5.61 ERA with 37 Ks and 11 BBs.
Tops in hitting for the Rangers this year is Nomar Mazara, with 49 hits, 26 runs, 10 homers and 27 RBI heading into the weekend. On Saturday, Mazara had one hit and a run.
As for the Sox, they’re sending out Reynaldo Lopez on Sunday. Over 46.1 innings and an 0-3 mark this season, Lopez has a 3.50 ERA with 31 Ks and 21 BBs.
Leading the way for the Sox entering the weekend was Jose Abreu on 46 hits, 22 runs and 23 RBI. In the Saturday game, Abreu ripped a solo homer and had two RBI with two runs.
The Rangers are 5-16 in their last 21 Sunday games and 2-8 in their last 10 during game four of a series. The under is 3-1-1 in the Rangers’ last five Sunday games and the over is 4-0 in Minor’s last four starts overall.
Meanwhile, the Sox are 2-6 in Lopez’s last eight starts and 1-4 in their last five in game four of a series. Chicago is also 1-5 in their last six Sunday games and 4-0 in Lopez’s last four starts with four days’ rest.
Minor has been sketchy lately with 11 earned in his last 10.1 innings across two starts. As for Lopez, he coughed up six earned on seven hits in 2.0 innings his last time out. This game could get out of hand, but I trust Lopez a little more right now. I’m going Sox, but the play is probably the over.
