The Chicago Cubs and the Cincinnati Reds will meet up on the MLB diamond to continue their series on Wednesday.

In the Tuesday opener of this set, the Cubs scored twice in the second inning and rode the wave to a 3-1 win.

For the Wednesday game, the Cubs will be sending out Yu Darvish in the starting role. Across a 2-3 record this year, Darvish has a 5.40 ERA with 44 strikeouts to his credit.

The Cubs’ bats were working on Tuesday, and they out-hit the Reds 11-3. Chicago’s Kris Bryant had a great night on three hits and a run, while Kyle Hendricks surprised with three hits and two RBI.

Over on the Reds’ side, they’re going with Sonny Gray on Wednesday. Gray is 0-4 this year so far, and carries a 4.15 ERA alongside 41 strikeouts.

The Reds couldn’t get much going on Tuesday with the three hits. The only run came courtesy of Joey Votto’s solo homer in the fourth.

The Cubs are 4-0 in their last four Wednesday games and 4-1 in Darvish’s last five starts. Chicago is 4-1 in Darvish’s last five starts versus the NL Central and 4-1 in his last five starts on grass.

Meanwhile, the Reds are 4-9 in their last 13 in game two of a series and 3-14 in their last 17 Wednesday games. Cincinnati is 1-4 in Gray’s last five starts and 1-4 in his last five on grass.

Oddly enough, Darvish is much better on the road (2-1; 4.42 ERA) than he is at home (0-2; 6.38 ERA) this season. A better sign is Darvish’s career numbers against Cincinnati—he’s 2-0 with a 1.93 ERA.

As for Gray, he’s coming off a walk-heavy performance last week, and even when he’s on this year he doesn’t get much support.

All signs seem to point to the Cubs here.
