MLB | Cleveland Indians (57-56) at Cincinnati Reds (57-56)

The Cincinnati Reds and the Cleveland Indians face off on Wednesday as their interleague series moves to Great American Ballpark.

The Cincinnati Reds made a statement on Tuesday pounding the Indians in Cleveland. Jay Bruce had three hits including a home run, Ramon Santiago hit a home run, and Ryan Ludwick, Brayan pena, Kristopher Negron, and Zack Cozart each had two hits as the Reds scored nine runs on 15 hits. Starting pitcher Johnny Cueto allowed five hits and two runs while striking out six over the full nine innings to get the win to go to 13-6 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the Reds start Mat Latos who got the win in his last start. For the season Latos has allowed 40 hits and 20 earned runs while striking out 37 over 58.2 innings for a 3-3 record and a 3.07 ERA.

The Cleveland Indians had no answers on Tuesday as they were crushed at home by the Reds. Michael Bradley, Mike Aviles, and David Murphy each had hits as eh Indians scored two runs on five hits. Starting pitcher Josh Tomlin just didn’t have it as he allowed eight hits and six runs, five earned, while striking out five over 4.1 innings to take the loss and fall to 5-8 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the Indians start Danny Salazar who has won his last three starts. For the season Salazar has allowed 6 hits and 29 earned runs while striking out 64 over 58.2 innings for a 4-4 record and a 4.45 ERA.

Cincinnati is 6-12 in their last 18 games, 12-2 in their last 14 interleague home games against a team with a winning record, and 26-8 in Latos’ last 34 home starts. Cleveland is 4-1 in their last five games, 1-4 in their last five road games, and 5-1 in Salazar’s last six starts. Cleveland is 0-6 in their last six game sin Cincinnati.

The Reds simply have not been playing well and I look for the Indians to get back to winning here.
