Cincinnati Reds +147 / Los Angeles Dodgers -157 O/U: 9.5
The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Cincinnati Reds will match up on the MLB circuit Sunday to complete their weekend set.
In the Friday opener of this series, LA took a 6-0 shutout win. On Saturday, Cincinnati slapped three runs in the third inning and rode the wave to a 4-0 shutout win.
For the Sunday game, the Dodgers will be going with Hyun-Jin Ryu in the start. Over his 52.1 innings and 5-1 mark so far, Ryu has a 1.72 ERA with 54 Ks and three walks.
The Dodgers had six hits on Saturday, but couldn’t turn them into much of anything. Both Cody Bellinger and Austin Barnes finished 2-for-3 in that one.
Over on the Reds’ side, they're sending out Tanner Roark on Sunday for the starting role. In his 46.1 innings and 3-2 record this year, Roark has a 3.50 ERA with 43 Ks and 20 BBs.
Cincinnati posted seven hits in the Saturday game. Yasiel Puig put up a nice outing with two hits and a pair of RBI to raise his BA to .210 on the year.
The Dodgers are 37-18 in their last 55 Sunday games and 11-1 in Ryu’s last 12 Sunday starts. LA is 0-5 in Ryu’s last five road starts and 1-4 in his last five road starts versus a team with a losing record.
Meanwhile, the Reds are 36-76 in their last 112 Sunday games and 4-1 in Roark’s last five starts with four days’ rest. Cincinnati is 5-2 in Roark’s last seven starts and 5-2 in his last seven on grass.
Ryu has been stellar lately, and he’s riding a streak of four straight quality starts. In his last pair, Ryu has given up zero earned on just five hits across 17.0 innings (one complete game versus the Braves).
As for Roark, he’s been pretty solid overall, with five earned in his last three starts over a total of 17.2 innings.
That said, there’s no way I’m picking against Ryu here. I’m going Dodgers.
