In MLB action from Great American Ball Park on Friday, the Philadelphia Phillies and the Cincinnati Reds will be picking up their series once again.

In the Thursday opener, the Phillies sprinkled in runs throughout the game, scoring in all but two innings. The result was a 9-4 Philly victory.

For Friday’s game, the Phillies will be sending out RHP Nick Pivetta for the start. In his 101.2 innings and 6-8 record this year, Pivetta has a 4.69 ERA with 122 Ks and 30 BBs.

Tops in hitting for the Phillies this year is Odubel Herrera, who carried 107 hits, 51 runs, 18 homers and 56 RBI into this set. In the opener, Herrera posted a hit and a run.

Over on the Reds’ side, they’re going with Anthony DeSclafani on Friday. Across his 48.1 innings and 4-3 record this year, DeSclafani has a 5.40 ERA with 41 Ks and 15 BBs.

Leading the way in hitting for the Reds is Scooter Gennett, who came into this series on 118 hits, 60 runs, 16 homers and 63 RBI. On Thursday, Gennett logged a hit and a run.

The Phillies are 4-1 in the last five Friday games and 6-2 in Pivetta’s last eight starts with four days’ rest. Philly is also 3-7 in Pivetta’s last 10 starts and 3-7 in his last 10 Friday starts.

Meanwhile, the Reds are 2-5 in their last seven in game two of a series and 2-6 in DeSclafani’s last eight home starts. Cincinnati is also 1-4 in DeSclafani’s last five starts and 2-11 in his last 13 starts in game two of a series.

Pivetta put up a quality start in Baltimore with three earned in 6.2 innings for a win, but then took a loss his last time out with four earned on eight hits in 5.1 innings against San Diego. As for DeSclafani, he’s been pretty choppy lately and has given up nine earned over his last 7.2 innings in two starts. I’m not really thrilled with either pitcher here, but I think this is the Phillies’ game to take.
