The Pittsburgh Pirates and the Cincinnati Reds will meet up on the MLB circuit Wednesday to finish up their series.
In the Monday opener, the Reds banged out an 11-6 win. On Tuesday, Pittsburgh returned the favor on an 11-4 victory.
For the Wednesday game, the Pirates will be sending out Dario Agrazal in the start. Over his 33.1 innings and 2-1 mark so far, Agrazal has a 3.24 ERA with 13 Ks and 10 BBs.
The Pirates logged 12 hits in the Tuesday win, capping the game off with three runs in the ninth. Corey Dickerson led the way on two homers with five RBI.
Over on the Reds’ side, they’re sending out Luis Castillo for the start Wednesday. Across 123.0 innings and a 9-4 record this year, Castillo has a 2.71 ERA with 144 Ks and 59 BBs.
Cincinnati put up eight hits in their loss on Tuesday. Joey Votto and Jesse Winker combined for four hits, two RBI and two runs there.
The Pirates are 0-5 in their last five in game three of a series and 7-16 in their last 23 versus a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15. The over is 14-3 in Pitt’s last 17 Wednesday games and 23-8 in their last 31 in game three of a series.
Meanwhile, the Reds are 1-4 in Castillo’s last five Wednesday starts and 7-19 in their last 26 Wednesday games. The under is 4-0 in Cincinnati’s last four in game three of a series and 17-4-1 in their last 22 Wednesday games.
Agrazal was cruising along nicely with four straight quality starts, but stumbled a bit in his first loss of the year his last time up, with five earned in 5.1 innings against the Mets.
As for Castillo, he also had a four-quality-start streak broken in a loss his last time out, giving up six earned in 5.0 innings.
This is a pretty close one to call; I’m going to give a slight edge to the at-home Reds here, though.
