Cincinnati Reds +115 / St. Louis Cardinals -135 O/U: 9
The St. Louis Cardinals and the Cincinnati Reds will meet up in MLB activity on Saturday.
For this matchup, the Cardinals will be sending out Adam Wainwright for the start. Over his 10.0 innings and 1-0 mark this year, Wainwright has a 4.50 ERA with 12 Ks and four walks.
As for the offense, Paul DeJong leads St. Louis’ attack so far with 18 hits, 13 runs, three homers and eight RBI. Kolton Wong isn’t too far back with 13 hits, eight runs, three homers and eight RBI.
Over on the Reds’ side, they’re going with Tanner Roark in the start on Saturday. In his 9.1 innings without a decision so far this year, Roark has a 5.79 ERA with 10 Ks and five walks.
The Cincinnati offense this year is powered by Eugenio Suarez, who is sitting on 11 hits, four runs, three homers and six RBI. Joey Votto also has double-digit hits with 10, seven runs, one homer and two RBI.
The Cardinals are 5-0 in their last five overall and 2-6 in their last eight Saturday games. St. Louis is 22-4 in Wainwright’s last 26 Saturday starts and 7-2 in his last nine starts in game one of a series.
Meanwhile, the Reds are 29-65 in their last 94 versus the NL Central and 7-16 in their last 23 in game one of a series. Cincinnati is 8-20 in their last 28 overall and 2-6 in their last eight after a win.
Wainwright came out skidding in Pittsburgh in his debut April 1, coughing up four earned on four hits in 4.0 innings, but got it back with 6.0 innings, five hits and one earned in his most recent game.
As for Roark, he’s been okay but not great (six earned total in two starts), which is about what you can expect out of him these days. That said, put a few runs on the board and Roark will most times keep the team in the game.
Still, with the vet Wainwright on the other side, I have to go with the Cardinals to take care of business here.
