Cincinnati Reds -118 / Texas Rangers +108 O/U: 9
The Texas Rangers and the Cincinnati Reds will match up on the MLB diamond to continue their series on Saturday.
In the Friday opener of this set, the Rangers posted four runs off one swing in the fifth inning and went on to a 7-1 victory.
For Saturday’s game, the Rangers will be sending out Mike Minor in the start. Over his 89.1 innings and 5-4 record this year, Minor has a 2.52 ERA with 93 Ks and 28 BBs.
Texas put up eight hits in the Friday win. The one big swing came from Rougned Odor, who ripped a grand slam in the fifth.
Over on the Reds’ side, they’re sending out Tanner Roark on Saturday. Across 67.1 innings and a 4-5 mark so far, Roark has a 3.74 ERA with 69 Ks and 27 BBs.
Cincinnati had some trouble keeping anything going in the Friday loss, and ended up with five hits on the night. Three of those came from Yasiel Puig, who finished 3-for-4.
The Rangers are 5-0 in the last five in game two of a series and 0-4 in Minor’s last four interleague starts. Texas is 0-5 in Minor’s last five starts after a quality outing and the under is 4-1 in the last five Saturday games.
Meanwhile, the Reds are 2-5 in their last seven in game two of a series and 1-4 in Roark’s last five home starts. Cincinnati is 1-4 in Roark’s last five starts and 1-4 in his last five starts on grass.
Minor has been extremely reliable lately, but a lot of times he just doesn’t get the run support. Across his last six starts, Minor has given up a total of nine earned but has just two wins in that time.
As for Roark, he’s been decent but his numbers are creeping up lately. In his last pair he’s given up eight earned on 12 hits in 11.0 innings.
All things considered this should be a nice matchup. I have to go Reds here and assume there will be little offense from Texas. I’ll take Cincinnati.
