|Date & Time||Tuesday May 29, 2018, 6:10 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Cleveland Indians -240 / Chicago White Sox +220 --- Over/Under: 9.5
Over at Progressive Field on Tuesday, the Chicago White Sox and the Cleveland Indians will be matching up in MLB action.
In the Monday game, Cleveland rode a five-run fifth inning to a 9-6 victory.
For Tuesday’s matchup, the White Sox will be bringing out RHP Lucas Giolito. In his 49.0 innings and 3-5 record this year, Giolito has a 7.53 ERA with 27 Ks and 37 BBs.
Chicago’s top hitter coming into this set was Jose Abreu with 61 hits, 28 runs, nine homers and 30 RBI. On Monday, Abreu posted an RBI.
Over on the Indians’ side, they’re going with Mike Clevinger on Tuesday. In his 65.0 innings and 3-2 record so far, Clevinger has a 3.32 ERA with 54 Ks and 21 BBs.
Francisco Lindor led the Indians entering this set with 62 hits, 40 runs, 12 homers and 28 RBI. On Monday, Lindor had three hits with a run and an RBI.
The White Sox are 17-36 in their last 53 Tuesday games and 15-37 in their last 52 in game two of a series. Chicago is also 5-2 in Giolito’s last seven starts versus the AL Central and 1-6 in his last seven starts versus a team with a winning record.
Meanwhile, the Indians are 23-10 in their last 33 during game two of a series and 1-4 in their last five Tuesday games. Cleveland is also 2-5 in Clevinger’s last seven Tuesday starts and 1-4 in his last five home starts.
I keep waiting for Giolito to have an extended run of success since he’s a better pitcher than his numbers indicate, but it hasn’t happened. As such, I have to go with the more reliable Clevinger here so I’m sticking with the Indians.
