The Chicago White Sox and the Cleveland Indians will meet up on the MLB diamond Monday to kick off their series.

Chicago is coming off a weekend “laundry series” versus the Red Sox. The White Sox won Thursday’s matchup but fell Friday and Saturday. In the Sunday finale, Chicago fell again, this time 9-2.

For the Monday game, the Sox will be bringing out Ivan Nova in the start. Over his 31.1 innings and 0-3 mark this year, Nova has an 8.33 ERA with 23 Ks and eight walks.

Over on the Indians’ side, they just finished up against the Mariners. Cleveland won 2-1 Friday and 5-4 Saturday, but on Sunday the Indians were blown out with a big 10-0 defeat.

Cleveland will be going with Trevor Bauer in the start Monday. Across 47.2 innings and a 4-1 record so far, Bauer has a 2.45 ERA with 55 Ks and 23 BBs.

The White Sox are 4-0 in their last four in game one of a series and 1-5 in Nova’s last six starts. Chicago is 0-4 in Nova’s last four road starts and the under is 7-2 in their last nine Monday games.

Meanwhile, the Indians are 5-1 in their last six in game one of a series and 24-10 in their last 34 Monday games. Cleveland is 4-0 in Bauer’s last four Monday starts and 11-4 in his last 15 starts.

Nova has a couple of solid outings to his credit this year, but for the most part he’s been pretty sketchy. Over his last three starts, Nova has given up 20 earned runs.

Conversely, Bauer has been chugging along quite nicely and has just one start where he’s gone fewer than 6.1 innings. I can’t find a lot of reasons to pick against the Indians here.

Pick:
Cleveland Indians -230
