On Wednesday afternoon from Progressive Field, the Chicago White Sox and the Cleveland Indians will be finishing up their MLB set.
In the Monday opener, the Indians took a 6-2 win. On Tuesday, the Indians scored four runs in the second inning and were able to hang on for a 6-3 victory.
For Wednesday’s game, the Sox will be going with RHP Reynaldo Lopez. In his 83.1 innings and 2-4 record this year, Lopez has a 3.35 ERA with 57 Ks and 34 BBs.
Heading into game two, Jose Abreu led the white sox on 77 hits, 36 runs, 11 homers and 41 RBI. On Tuesday, Abreu had a hit and an RBI.
Over on the Indians’ side, they’re rolling out Corey Kluber on Wednesday. Over 104.2 innings and a 10-3 record, Kluber has a 2.24 ERA with 106 Ks and 11 BBs.
Cleveland’s top hitter this year is Francisco Lindor, who entered game two with 84 hits, 54 runs, 16 homers and 38 RBI. In Tuesday’s game, Lindor had two hits and two RBI.
The White Sox are 4-1 in their last five in game three of a series and 9-22 in their last 31 Wednesday games. Chicago is also 1-4 in Lopez’s last five starts and 0-4 in his last four starts versus the AL Central.
Meanwhile, the Indians are 7-1 in their last eight Wednesday games and 21-8 in their last 29 in game three of a series. Cleveland is also 46-18 in Kluber’s last 64 starts and 35-17 in his last 52 home starts.
Lopez had a couple of shaky starts last month, but so far in June he’s allowed just four earned across three starts in 19.1 innings. Kluber, meanwhile, had a long string of quality starts broken in his last outing with four earned in 5.0 innings. I think Kluber can bounce back here and lead the Indians to a victory, but it may be a closer game than some people think. You wouldn’t be crazy for taking the Sox as a value pick.
